The Society holds lectures, during the Winter, and outings, during the Summer months. There are also once-off events such as conferences, the Annual Weekend away and the Christmas Lunch.

Candidates for election to the Council or any office shall be nominated in writing by two members or by Council Resolution. Nominations shall be made and sent to the Hon. Secretary not later than 27 January 2017.
Special Resolutions must be sent to the Hon. Secretary not later than 27 February 2017.

Assemble at the National Monument, Grand Parade, Cork city, for a look at the history, symbolism and craftsmanship of the monuments here: including the National Monument, War Memorials and statue of King George II (Dr John Borgonovo, Gerry White and Christian Helling).

All members should travel by coach from Cork (leaving 10am, Friday, June 9th, returning Sunday evening, June 11th). A number of sites will be visited on way to Birr, with lunch in Roscrea. Sites will include St Cronan’s church and Roscrea Castle, Loughmoe Castle, Birr Castle and telescope, Birr town, Clonmacnoise monastic site, Clonfert cathedral, Aughrim battlefield, Shannon Harbour and others (Dr Clare O’Halloran, Caimin O’Brien, Flor Hurley and other speakers).
Members should book using form posted out; return this to the Hon. Treasurer by June 2nd, 2017.
Entry charges may apply for certain sites. Members are responsible for booking own accommodation.

Assemble at New Road, Kilmallock (around corner from Gortboy Service Station on the Charleville side of town). A walking tour of the medieval town looking at the walls, the Collegiate Church, the Dominican Priory, Kings Castle, Blossom Gate and other aspects of the town’s history and archaeology (Sarah McCutcheon and other speakers).
