CHAS County Lecture: ‘Liam Lynch: Life of an Irish Revolutionary, 1892-1923’ by Gerard Shannon.
This event, co-hosted with the Mitchelstown Heritage Society, is the Cork Historical & Archaeological Society’s annual County Lecture. Mitchelstown has been selected for his year’s county lecture given its proximity to the location of the death of Liam Lynch in April 1923. The event will also mark the association of Canon Courtney Moore, a founding member of the Cork Historical & Archaeological Society, with the lecture’s venue, St George’s Arts and Heritage Centre (Eircode: P67 XC61)

CHAS County Lecture: ‘Archaeological Excavation and Restoration of a Bronze Age stone circle at Gorteanish, West Cork’ by Professor William O’Brien.
One of the aims of the Cork Historical & Archaeological Society is to promote the study of history and archaeology throughout the county and one of the ways it achieves this is through its annual County Lecture Series. This event, co-hosted with the Bantry Historical & Archaeological Society, founded in 1978, is the 2023-24 County Lecture. William O’Brien, Professor of Archaeology, UCC, will reveal the results of the recent excavation of the stone circle at Gorteanish, on the Sheep’s Head peninsula.
