As usual Jim Herlihy delivered a fascinating lecture about the history of the Royal Irish Constabulary. It is amazing how much work he has done delving into the history of the RIC, DMP, the Revenue Police and the Cork Civic Patrol, as well as other related avenues (see HARP Society website at http://irish-police.com/ for more information). Also discussed was the Black and Tans and the Auxies, as well as the Irish connection with the Palestine Police Force. Jim’s latest publication is the updated and revised edition of The Royal Irish Constabulary: a short history and genealogical guide with a select list of medal awards and casualties (Four Courts, 2016).
